A Comment on Conical Flow Induced by Heavy-Quark Jets
The suppression of high transverse momentum particles, recently discovered at RHIC, is commonly interpreted as due to parton energy loss. In high energy nuclear collisions, QCD jets would deposit a large fraction of their energy and into the produced matter. The question of how this energy is degraded and whether we can use this phenomenon to probe the properties of the produced matter is now u...
متن کاملRicci flow on surfaces with conical singularities Hao Yin
This paper studies the normalized Ricci flow on surfaces with conical singularities. It’s proved that the normalized Ricci flow has a solution for a short time for initial metrics with conical singularities. Moreover, the solution makes good geometric sense. For some simple surfaces of this kind, for example, the tear drop and the football, it’s shown that they admit Ricci soliton metric. MSC 2...
متن کاملScenery Flow, Conical Densities, and Rectifiability
We present an application of the recently developed ergodic theoretic machinery on scenery flows to a classical geometric measure theoretic problem in Euclidean spaces. We also review the enhancements to the theory required in our work. Our main result is a sharp version of the conical density theorem, which we reduce to a question on rectifiability.
متن کاملPulsed-Discharge Flow Control over a Conical Forebody
Duty cycle modulation of the alternating blowing from two opposite facing plasma actuators on the leeward surface near the apex of a cone of semi-apex angle 10o to control the mean lateral force and moment and the flow control mechanism are presented. The pressure distributions over the cone forebody are measured by steady and unsteady pressure-transducers. The experiments are performed in a 3....
متن کاملConical Flow induced by Quenched QCD Jets
Quenching is a recently discovered phenomenon in which QCD jets created in heavy ion collisions deposit a large fraction or even all their energy and momentum into the produced matter . At RHIC and higher energies, where that matter is a strongly coupled Quark-Gluon Plasma (sQGP) with very small viscosity, we suggest that this energy/momentum propagate as a collective excitation or “conical flo...
